This came up at the GSoC mentor's summit earlier in my session on assholes (although I don't think it quite fits the definition), and it seems that it came up again in the FLOSS foundations meet-up at OSCON.
The life and times of a Gentoo developer, biochemist and journalist
Sometimes I think all the folks that come into #xfce are Help Vampires.
Then I realize that they’re just users who haven’t read/refuse to read/don’t know about the official documentation and other resources of their distribution.
There’s a higher percentage of clueless users on #xfce than on any Gentoo channel or forum that I’ve ever seen. A corresponding higher increase in HV false positives. I wonder why that is?

The closer to the naive user you are, the more of them you find. Just to get Gentoo installed takes you a level beyond where many Xfce users are (Xubuntu).
